before solta, there was cuscuz.
a friend gave my husband a t-shirt that said “tem cuscuz?”.
one wash later, it shrank and conveniently became my size.
i wore it for years because those two words somehow felt like home.
whenever I went to brazil, I looked for more things like it. familiar sayings, inside jokes, little pieces of brazil that I could wear wherever I was going next.
apparently, finding them was harder than it should be.
so I made solta, problem solved.
what's solta?
growing up, my grandmother used to call me "sua solta".
in portuguese, solta means loose, free, untied. but when my grandmother said it, she meant something else.
i was always going somewhere. making plans, seeing friends, wanting to be out in the world.
apparently, sitting still wasn't one of my talents.
and honestly, not much has changed.
that's the woman behind solta. the one who loves to travel, gets dressed up for no particular reason, makes tons of plans, and believes life is better when you actually go out and live it.
solta is for her.
for the brazilian girls making homes in other countries, collecting memories, missing brazil, loving where they are, and somehow belonging to more than one place.
our mission is to allow you to be inspired by brazilian expressions, memories, and all those little things that make us who we are.
welcome to solta!
